Privacy policy
How we handle your personal information
This policy covers Create Plumbing & Gasfitting and this website. Effective TODO:POLICY_DATE.
1. Who we are
This website is run by Thorn Investments Pty Ltd (ABN 68 674 095 053), trading as Create Plumbing & Gasfitting, a plumbing, drainage and gasfitting business based in Batemans Bay, NSW. If you have a question about this policy or about the information we hold on you, email jason@createplumbing.com.au or call 0402 377 231. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles, and this policy explains how.
2. What we collect
When you send an enquiry through this site we collect your name, your phone number, your suburb or property address, and whatever you write about the job. If you email us, we also hold your email address. As with any website, our hosting provider records the usual technical details when a page is loaded: your IP address, the type of browser and device you used, the pages you visited and when. We do not use this website to collect anything else.
The site does not run analytics, advertising cookies or tracking pixels. The only cookies, if any, are the ones our hosting provider needs to serve the site securely.
3. Why we collect it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, to quote and carry out plumbing and gas work, to invoice you, and to keep the records we are required to keep as a licensed trade, such as gas compliance certificates and job records. We do not sell personal information and we do not add you to any marketing list.
4. How it is collected
Nearly everything we hold comes straight from you: through the enquiry form on this site, over the phone, by email, or in person on the job. Sometimes someone else gives us your details instead, for example a builder or bathroom company that has brought us onto a job, an insurer arranging a make-safe, or a family member organising work at your place. Either way we only collect what we need to do the job, and we never buy personal information.
5. Who else sees it
A small number of service providers handle your information for us. The enquiry form is processed and stored by our website host, Netlify, and its spam filter, Akismet, on servers outside Australia, mainly in the United States, so a form submission is disclosed overseas for that purpose. Our email runs on Google Workspace, so emails you send us are stored by Google in the United States and in other countries where Google runs data centres. Both companies publish the terms under which they protect that information, and we rely on those.
Invoicing and accounting run through TODO:ACCOUNTING_SOFTWARE, which stores your name, contact details and invoice history. Beyond those providers we do not share your personal information with anyone else, unless the law requires it, for example a request from a regulator or a court.
6. How it is stored and protected
Your information is held on those providers' systems and on our own phones and computers. We take reasonable steps to keep it secure: password-protected accounts and devices, and access limited to the people who need it. When we no longer need your information we delete it or remove anything that identifies you, except where tax law or trade licensing rules require us to keep records for a set period. If your information is ever involved in a data breach that is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you.
7. Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is wrong, by emailing the owner at jason@createplumbing.com.au or calling 0402 377 231. We will respond within 30 days. There is no charge for asking. If for some reason we cannot give you access or make a correction, we will tell you why in writing.
8. Complaints
If you think we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first using the details above so we can try to sort it out. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
9. Other sites
Our Instagram and Facebook pages and our reviews on Google are run by those companies under their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for how they collect or handle your information. The same goes for the website of Eurobodalla Digital, which built this site and is linked from the footer.
10. Changes to this policy
If the way we handle personal information changes, we will update this page and change the date at the top. The current version took effect on TODO:POLICY_DATE.
